Welcome to the London Lawyers Football Club website. The Club comprises trainees and qualified lawyers selected to represent London in the Mundiavocat, the European Lawyers' Football Cup (ELFCup) and fixtures against other amateur sides. This website profiles the squad and has news on the team in general.
London Lawyers Football Club (LLFC) was established in 2001. In its first tournament outing, at Mundiavocat 2002, London finished 13th (out of 42 teams), remaining undefeated in normal time throughout the tournament. Matt Smith, London captain, was named "Best Player of the Tournament" at Mundiavocat 2002.
The following year London finished 2nd in the 2003 ELFCup in Frankfurt, losing to a strong Budapest side 1-0 in a closely-fought final. Two years later in Salzburg, LLFC again reached the final of the ELFCup, but could not prevail over a resilient Vienna team, who ran out 2-1 winners.
Having gained valuable experience at Mundiavocat 2004 in Lake Balaton, Hungary and Mundiavocat 2006 in Antalya, Turkey, in 2007 LLFC deservedly secured the European crown in their third consecutive final. Under the blue skies and hot sun of the Algarve, and having avenged the 2003 defeat by beating Budapest 2-1 in the group stage, London edged past Lisbon 5-4 on penalties after a tense 1-1 draw in the semi-final. A fine 1-0 victory over old friends Livorno in the final brought the trophy home at last. For further details of LLFC’s performances at ELFCup 2007 click here.
LLFC was fortunate enough to play at the 2003 invitational Avvocati Per I Bambini charity tournament in Rome, and returned to the Eternal City in 2007 to play a friendly with the World Champions, Rome Dream Team. LLFC has also played host to touring sides of lawyers from Paris, Valencia and Potenza.
